The exhibit explores the influence of Jewish culture and history in his works, revealing the push and pull of New and Old World and how his artistic journey led him deeper into his own family’s history and his Jewish identity. The press release...
This exhibit is a study of Sendak’s illustrations, showing connections between his iconic works and Sendak’s childhood, family and the popular culture of the time.
Eight double-sided panels will feature illustrations of ferocious creatures, curious children and vibrant neighborhoods, alongside thematic descriptions of the Jewish culture and history that influenced his themes and works.
