National Library Workers Day

Today is National Library Workers Day. According to the ALA-APA (American Library Association - Allied Professional Association -- quite the acronym!), a resolution was proposed on January 25, 2003, "in order to recognize the hard work, dedication, and expertise of library support staff and librarians that the Tuesday of National Library Week be designated National Library Workers Day; and, that on that day, interested library workers, library groups, and libraries should advocate for better compensation for all library workers and, if the day coincides with National Pay Equity Day, these individuals, groups, and libraries should recognize both days together."

I would like to take a moment to recognize a few amazing library workers who certainly made a difference in my life:
Mrs. Cruickshank -- retired children's services librarian at Oxford Public Library when I first became a patron
Charli Osborne -- head of teen services at Oxford Public Library
Shae Smith -- head of youth services at Oxford Public Library
Nancy Weir -- head of support services at Oxford Public Library
Pat Cebelek -- retired adult services librarian at Oxford Public Library
Gail Nartker -- library director at Sandusky District Library -- and the helpful staff
Mimi Herrington -- library director at Bad Axe Area District Library -- and the amazing staff
Beverly Dear -- library director at Sanilac District Library -- and the fabulous staff
Anne Switzer -- outreach librarian at Kresge Library at Oakland University
The library staff at Flite Library at Ferris State University
The library staff at Kresge Library at Oakland University
The library staff at Kresge-Purdy Library at Wayne State University

Thank you!
